The Process

The process of joining a retreat with UNIUN is designed with your safety and comfort in mind. We offer a truly holistic service, including preparation prior to the retreat as well as integration sessions during and after the retreat. Here's how it works:

  • To begin your journey, you'll fill out an in-depth intake form. We then conduct a screening process that includes assessing for any physical, pharmaceutical, or psychological contraindications, as well as evaluating whether your current life circumstances are conducive and supportive for this type of experience.

After you complete the form, you will schedule a free 30-minute discovery call with Niko Whitefeather, the founder of UNIUN. This call is an opportunity for you to connect directly with Niko, ask any questions you may have, and get a feel for what UNIUN retreats are all about.

  • Once the screening process is complete and you're cleared to attend the retreat, we'll collect a non-refundable deposit to secure your spot. This deposit ensures your commitment to the retreat and helps us make necessary arrangements for your participation.

  • Leading up to the retreat, you will have two individual preparation sessions (usually over Zoom) to begin the journey by setting intentions and exploring your inner needs. There will also be a group preparation session for participants to come together prior to the retreat.

  • As part of our harm reduction model, UNIUN does not provide the medicine used during the retreat. Instead, we connect you with a trusted, high-quality company that specializes in providing psilocybin mushrooms. Your medicine will be shipped from a decriminalized state to the retreat center, which is also located in a decriminalized state. You'll receive a special code specifically for UNIUN retreats, which you can use to purchase your medicine directly from the supplier.

This approach ensures quality control and consistency in the medicine being worked with, while also eliminating any risk associated with flying with or mailing medicine to your home. We prioritize your safety and peace of mind throughout every step of the process, allowing you to focus on your journey of healing and self-discovery.

  • You will be met at the airport nearest to the retreat center and transported to and from the retreat. Retreats take place over five days/five nights, and include all meals prepared by chefs on site daily, comfortable private rooms, two psilocybin mushroom ceremonies, and daily practices such as breathwork, restorative somatic movement, guided inner work, and integration.

  • There will be two integration sessions on site during the retreat to help participants begin to process and make sense of their experiences during the ceremonies.

Following each retreat we also offer individual and group integration sessions, and we can provide resources for ongoing integration work beyond this. We hope that the retreat you attend is a catalyst for rich transformation and healing, and many find that ongoing integration support is valuable as the insights continue to be revealed.

 FAQs

Safety

  • Individuals aged 21 and above who complete the screening process are eligible to attend. The screening aims to identify any contraindications to working with plant medicines.

  • Screening begins with an intake form, followed by a 30-minute consultation call. Next, you will complete a more comprehensive application form that includes your medical and mental health history, life experiences, intentions, spiritual perspectives, home life, and more. Each application undergoes thorough review by Niko, who will reach out with follow-up questions as necessary for clarification.

  • Our retreats attract people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, united by a sincere desire for healing and personal growth. Some folks will have experience with psilocybin or other plant medicines, and others will be new to the experience. To ensure the safety and comfort of our circle, all participants undergo thorough screening procedures, and all are age 21 or older.

  • We aim to maintain a small and intimate group setting, typically hosting between 8 to 12 participants. To ensure personalized attention and support, we aim to maintain a ratio of around one helper for every two participants.

Ceremonies

  • Participation in the mushroom ceremonies is optional. Moreover, attending one ceremony does not obligate you to participate in both ceremonies. You have the freedom to decide your level of engagement based on your personal preferences and comfort level.

  • Yes. During each ceremony, you have complete autonomy over the dosage you choose to take. While we may offer recommendations based on our expertise and the capacity of the space, the ultimate decision rests with you, provided it is safe and respectful to the shared environment.

  • Our ceremonies are conducted with care and reverence. We are committed to inclusivity, devoid of dogma, ideology, or favoritism toward any single spiritual tradition. Instead, we honor and welcome all spiritual paths and transformative modalities. We describe our approach as psychospiritual, harmonizing ancient wisdom traditions with modern therapeutic practices.

  • No. Whether you adhere to a particular tradition or identify as strictly materialist, we will never impose any beliefs upon you. Our approach centers on empowering your personal freedom. We encourage you to explore beliefs that serve your growth and well-being.

  • Our retreats take place in states where psilocybin has been decriminalized, and we operate in accordance with these new laws. We do not supply the medicine; instead, you purchase it from a reputable, lab-tested source also located in a decriminalized state. The medicine is then sent directly from this source to the retreat center. As both the procurement and use of the medicine occur within decriminalized jurisdictions, our retreats are not illegal.

  • Our facilitators possess a diverse array of qualifications across various disciplines. For specific details on each facilitator's experience and credentials, please refer to their individual bios here.

  • We have a medical professional on call at each retreat, and a vehicle will always be available on site for immediate transportation if needed. Additionally, at least one facilitator who is CPR/First Aid certified will be present at all times, equipped with necessary first aid supplies.

  • During the application process, we will discuss any medications you are currently taking, as some may interact with psilocybin or affect its effects. While we're not medical professionals and don't provide medical advice, we'll share information about known interactions and potential risks. We strongly advise against discontinuing any medication for a psychedelic experience without consulting a healthcare provider. If you choose to taper off medication, it should be done gradually and under professional supervision. Some participants may opt to remain on certain antidepressants or anxiety medications, which may require higher doses of psilocybin for a full experience. If you have any questions, we can connect you with a pharmacist for further guidance.

Practicalities

  • Please bring comfortable clothing and any personal items that bring you comfort. Your heart, open and willing, is the most important thing to bring. The medicine will be mailed to the retreat center ahead of your arrival, and all other necessities will be provided for you during your stay.

  • We offer both individual and group integration sessions to support your ongoing journey after the retreat. Beyond this, many of our facilitators offer individual integration sessions and other services, and you'll have access to our extensive network of therapists and healers across the country for additional integration support.

  • A deposit of $1200 is due upon registration, followed by 50% of the remaining fee one month later, and the remaining 50% one month after that. If you need to make other payment arrangements, we can accommodate on a case-by-case basis.

  • Financial aid is available on a case-by-case basis for BIPOC individuals, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those with low income. Please don't hesitate to reach out for further details and to inquire about eligibility!
